New solar AI study: check the simulation and the numbers before calling a winner

An October 14 solar-control study contains an error comparison needing clarification. Read its figures alongside its claims.

Scientific Reports published a three-controller neural-network study for solar maximum power point tracking. It includes MATLAB/Simulink simulations; hardware validation is future work.

A numerical point needs clarification

The abstract calls GWO-DNN’s error lower but lists test mean absolute errors of GWO-DNN 0.6138 V, MFA-DNN 0.3506 V and GO-DNN 0.4978 V. Numerically, 0.3506 is below 0.6138. That list alone does not establish the stated advantage.

Keep the claim narrow

This discrepancy is a reason to seek clarification, not evidence of misconduct or proof that every result is wrong. Other performance measures need their own comparisons. We do not assign an overall winner or silently correct the paper’s numbers.

What would matter to an operator?

Our reading recommendation is to distinguish the tested model from a deployed controller. Before using such work for equipment decisions, ask for the relevant test conditions, implementation evidence and a resolved explanation of the reported comparison. A simulated result does not establish savings for your installation.
