PS Plus games leaving October 20: does downloading one keep it?

No. Extra and Premium Game Catalog downloads are not purchases. Eight titles are reported to leave on October 20, but the list can vary by region.

After a game leaves the catalog, the installed file does not keep its subscription access. To play again, you would need to own it separately or wait for it to return to the catalog.

The eight games reported to leave October 20

A September 15 report based on the PlayStation Store’s “Last Chance to Play” list named these titles. Lake, Death Squared and Harvest Moon were marked as available in some regions only. Check the list shown for your own account before planning around the date.

Monthly Games are different

Games you add to your library during a Monthly Games offer remain playable while your PlayStation Plus membership is active. The rotating Extra and Premium Game Catalog is a separate benefit, and individual catalog titles can have an end date.

Your save is separate from the game license

Sony says downloaded catalog-game saves are stored on the console. If you later buy the game, you may be able to continue from that save—keep the saved data. You can also back it up to PlayStation Plus cloud storage.

On PS5, check PlayStation Plus → Collections → “Last Chance to Play.” On PS4, check PlayStation Plus → Games → Game Catalog. Menus and the available list can vary by region.
